Limitations: Not indicated for use in children

Symformin XR is used to treat patients with type 2 diabetes (also called ‘non-insulin dependent’ diabetes). It is used especially in overweight patients.
Adults may take Symformin XR as the only medicine or in combination with other antidiabetes medicines (either orally or with insulin).
In the prevention of type 2 diabetes in patients with prediabetes.
In the polycystic ovary syndrome.
